A series of collages created at the turn of the millennium which reflect on social, cultural and political issues. At that time the achievements made on reproductive women rights, marriage equality, and minority & human rights all seemed to indicate that we were finally moving forward in big strides.
Today I again visit this series of collages. Incorporating the calendar, which represents the passage of time inside an iconic puzzle, I reflect on the widespread changes that are moving us backward rather than forward in the middle of a still-killer pandemic. Sharp political division looks to severely divide Americans: dictating women’s rights over their bodies, oppressing gay education at schools, halting progressive changes to help minimize climate change, even prohibiting the showing the nude figures in art venues. It seems we now live in a nation that almost childishly changes its clothes on a whim (or every time a political party comes into office) and simply refuses to grow up.
